The Studio
Design that understands construction.
Meet Heather Belanger and Logan Shuman — designers who know how a kitchen is built, not only how it looks on a board.
Lacillade Kitchen + Bath has designed kitchens and baths for Vermont homeowners and builders since 1982. What sets this studio apart is not only taste in cabinets and finishes. Heather and Logan know how a job is built: the order of trades, how one material choice affects another, and what has to be true on paper before anything goes on site.
That construction fluency means fewer surprises for homeowners, clearer specs for builders, and kitchens that still work the way you live once the dust settles.
On the Job
Why construction knowledge matters
Kitchen and bath design is easy to treat as a catalog exercise. Real projects are different. Layout, cabinet sizing, plumbing, electrical, countertops, and install windows all depend on each other. We plan for that sequence so the drawing matches what your builder can build, and so the room still works after every trade has come through.
We also work directly with architects and builders — specifying cabinetry from their drawings when homeowners are not in the room, so the plans stay clear and the job keeps moving.
Owner
Heather Belanger, Owner
Heather Belanger owns Lacillade Kitchen + Bath in Williston. She has 12 years in kitchen and bath design, including 9 years with Lacillade. She started in architectural design and finish selection with a construction company, building construction plans and walking homeowners through every finish decision. That early job-site literacy still shapes how she designs.
Clients often say they value how clearly she explains the construction process, and the time she takes to educate them. Her approach is a balance of creativity and practicality: beautiful, highly functional rooms tailored to how people actually live. She especially loves new construction, where the kitchen can lead the plan of the house, and renovation puzzles homeowners think cannot be solved.
Before kitchens, Heather spent years in brand and project work (including JDK/Solidarity with Michael Jager), learning the same skills she uses now: listen closely, solve problems thoughtfully, and communicate a clear message. She is a founding member of BNI Queen City.
“I approach design as a balance of creativity and practicality. The result is a curated space that is beautiful, highly functional, and tailored to the client’s everyday life.”
Designer
Logan Shuman, Designer
Logan Shuman is an experienced kitchen and bath designer at Lacillade. She came from Urban Homes, an award-winning New York City kitchen and bath design showroom founded by a third-generation kitchen specialist. There she focused on personalized service, innovative design solutions, premiere products, and modern tools for complex projects. She also served as Sales Project Manager at Conant Metal & Light in Burlington (Nov 2016–Sep 2024) before returning fully to kitchens in Vermont.
Logan lives in Waterbury. She has been an active community volunteer, including VP of the Waterbury Area Trail Alliance (WATA), and she is a passionate trail rider who cares about the places she rides.
The Process
How we work with you
A clear path from the first studio visit to cabinets that match the drawings.
Meet at the Williston studio
Start with a studio appointment, or work from your architect’s drawings when the homeowner is not meeting with us. Bring measurements, ideas, and how the room will be used — we will talk through the job, not only the finishes.
Plan the layout
We draft a kitchen or bath plan around how you live, and around the plumbing, electrical, and install sequence your builder has to follow.
Choose the right cabinet line
Omega custom and semi-custom for tailored work; Mantra when a builder project needs a cleaner, faster cabinet path. We help you choose what the job actually needs.
Coordinate install to the drawings
We stay with the project so what arrives on site matches what was specified — down to the last drawer front.
